CoreApusThere are numerous situations in different kinds of processes in mineral processing, food and dairy manufacturing or pulp and paper industries in which there is a need to investigate the homogeneity of the mass flow in a process pipe. With Numcore's innovative three-dimensional imaging technology, you can monitor the mass flow on-line and measure solids in liquids enabling efficient and energy saving control of your process. FeaturesThe CoreApus product family is the high end of Numcore’s tomographic sensors. The flow-through pipe sensor is easily installed into a process pipe with standard size flanges and it is used for imaging mass flow inside the pipe. It is available as one to five ring models with 16 to 64 measurement channels. In high-velocity flows, the 5 ring model is needed and in slow (1-2 m/s) one ring model is an option. The sensor part can be made either of plastic or Teflon covered with high quality stainless steel. The maximum frame rate is up to 80 frames (images) per second.

A 25-minute sequence of images from the outflow of the storage tank in the upper figure in a paper mill. Maximum, mean and minimum conductivities are presented in the lower left figure. The lower right figure indicates the snapshot image from real time situation. The light blue color represents the medium pulp consistency and red color indicates highly electrically conductive 0-water in the dilution system. Dark blue indicates non-dissolved gas which is highly electrically resistive.
The mixing process and homogeneity can be optimized by controlling the speed of mixers and pumps.
